EON's Introduction was at NAMM in JANUARY 1995. The first units were made that month and volume shipping began in March 1995.

They are used in so many places – it’s hard to name a noteworthy usage. Then President Bill Clinton visiting JBL as a guest of Dr. Sydney Harman using an EON for a keynote address.

Since the launch JBL have made and shipped over 750,000 EON units worldwide.

It was the first JBL Pro product to use the DD – Differential Drive woofer construction developed by our VP Product Development - Doug Button. The way the EON-P1 and -G2 are made is innovative because the baffle is the horn, the HF driver mounting, the amplifier mounting site using the metal mass and port air flow as thermal management properties plus it is also the chassis for the woofer.

US Patent # 5,533,132 was granted to Doug Button on 2nd July 1996 for “EON Thermal Management”.

US Patent # 5,748,760 was granted to Doug Button on 5th May 1998 for “Dual coil drive – basic differential drive patent”.
