Technical Resource Group

Technical Resource Group

The world of live audio, lighting and staging is complex, and sometimes you just need a bit of professional advice or support. The Jands Technical Resource Group (TRG) provides technical and application support, project design and training for all audio and lighting products distributed or manufactured by Jands. The Jands TRG utilise years of experience, advanced software tools and the latest resources from our suppliers to support end users, dealers, consultants and contractors and provide innovative solutions for Audio and lighting projects. TRG often support projects from initial design through to final commissioning.

So who are they, what do they do, and what are their backgrounds?

Each member brings individual specialities to the group. They work closely with each other and understand each other’s skills, providing great strength and depth of knowledge within the team.

JeffJeff MacKenzie - Manager, Technical Resources Group
An industry veteran, Jeff (aka JMacK) has held various positions in the entertainment industry, including contracting, concert productions and even running his own PA system for a while. He has been with Jands for over 10 years now and expects to qualify for weekend release anytime soon now (his words). Jeff’s current favourite product is the Shure UHF-R wireless microphone system and associated wireless workbench (WWB) software system. As they provide everything operators require to successfully deploy large wireless systems in today’s hostile wireless environment.

MitchMitchell Lockyer-Lane - Audio System Specialist
Mitch has been working at Jands for 5 years after moving away from “rewarding” roles as customer service professional and technical customer support, but he did mix the odd band here and there. After recently becoming a father to little Jensen (yes, like the audio transformer manufacturer...), Mitch’s gigs outside of Jands include changing nappies and playing with baby toys! The most rewarding aspect of working for Jands for Mitch is the impressive array of professional products, or “toys” as he likes to call them that Jands distributes. His current favourite product is the Tempest wireless intercom system from Clear-Com, as it’s simple and easy to use. Mitch feels that communications is always the poor cousin in the production market and deserves more respect.

EddieEddie Welsh - Lighting Applications Engineer
His role involves any technical elements to lighting sales and support operations. He spends a lot of time deciphering tenders, accompanying the sales guys and helping existing users with the curly and tricky questions on lighting product. His favourite product at the moment is the new ETC Selador Desire LED wash lights. ETC has spent a lot of time and money investing in new technology and new features to allow LED not just to fit with a tungsten rig but to excel within it.

KimKim Hasanic - Logistics Specialist
Kim is an old hand at Jands, having been with the company on and off for 24 odd years. Kim is involved primarily in logistics – prepping gear for shows and demos, maintaining demonstration inventory and solving those inevitable last minute ‘emergencies’. Before Jands, Kim was touring with large and small bands. Outside of Jands, Kim enjoys fishing, spending time on his farm and quad biking. Kim’s favourite product that has recently been released is the JBL VRX because it’s so easy to use and sounds good straight out of the box.

DavidDavid Bradshaw - Technical Representative & Training Officer
David is one of the newer members to join the group. His role involves visiting consultants and key installation contractors, and providing technical services (i.e. product training and engineering support) to clients. The most interesting product for him right now, from a perspective of price and performance, is the BSS BLU-100. He also likes JBL’s new VT4886 line array as it is a real eye opener when you get it powered up, really surprising for such a small box.

CraigCraig Abbott - Technical Representative (Production Audio)
Craig is the newest memeber to join the group. Providing technical services to the production audio market, including engineering and product support, as well as product training. Outside of Jands, Craig enjoys mixing the occasional band on a weekend and hitting the roads on his motorcycle. His favourite product at the moment is the new Soundcraft Si Compact range of digital consoles. Soundcraft have produced an extremely friendly to navigate but yet powerful range of consoles.
