Why do I need signal processing?
Signal processing provides you with the tools required to fine tune a sound system, enabling optimum performance while keeping the signal within safe, usable parameters.
Compressor/limiters eliminate nasty, destructive peaks and square waves in a signal and allow us to level match different instruments. Equalisers remove the ugly frequencies created by bad acoustics, and add frequencies that are lacking due to the same bad acoustics. Gates keep our systems quiet when noisy instruments are being used through our systems or we need to keep mic channels quiet.
Speaker management systems can do all this and more from the one box and programmable DSP systems can manage and process entire multi zone sound systems like the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
