Pioneered in the early 1970’s, moving lights became a commercial and practical reality when VARI*LITE® debuted their landmark VL1 automated fixture in the early 1980’s. These fixtures have delivered a new dynamic range of effects to stage and architectural lighting designers alike.
Automated fixtures are capable of a full range of movement, colour change and beam effects. Controlled remotely from purpose designed control consoles and utilising the standard DMX512 control protocol, moving lights are now available with both tungsten and high output discharge lamp sources to suit the specific requirements of the environments in which they are used.
Designers now have access range of beam angles, gobo projections, colours, strobe effects and even framing shutter systems from the one fixture that can be refocussed anywhere in the performance area or moved live to provide stunning visual effects.
Since introducing the modern automated light more than two and a half decades ago, Vari*Lite has produced the most innovative spot and wash luminaires available. In fact, Vari*Lite develops luminaires so powerful, they provide more than just light. They’ve become a way to express your imagination. A way to make your vision a reality.
